国府津駅（神奈川県小田原市）から御殿場駅（静岡県御殿場市）を経由し沼津駅（静岡県沼津市）までの60.2kmを結ぶJR御殿場線。かつては東京～神戸間を結ぶ東海道本線の一部として全線複線の大幹線の一部でした。しかし、1934年の丹那トンネルの開業とともに東海道本線の経路が熱海経由となり、第二次世界大戦中には不要不急線に指定されて単線化されるなど、一転してローカル線と化してしまいました。戦後も再度複線化されることはありませんでしたが、1955年から小田急小田原線からの優等列車乗り入れが始まるなど、地元のローカル輸送とともに御殿場方面への観光路線としての性格も有することになりました。特急名としても使われている富士山との距離も近く、その雄大な車窓には圧倒されます。今回は、しっかりとした雪化粧をまとった冬の富士山麓を行く列車を2本撮影しました。

The JR Gotemba Line runs 60.2 km from Kozu Station (Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture) to Numazu Station (Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture) via Gotemba Station (Gotemba City, Shizuoka Prefecture). It was once part of the Tokaido Main Line, a major trunk line with double tracks throughout, connecting Tokyo and Kobe. However, with the opening of the Tan-na Tunnel in 1934, the Tokaido Main Line route was changed to via Atami. During World War II, the line was designated a non-essential line and single-tracked, transforming it into a local line. It was never double-tracked again after the war, but in 1955, limited express trains from the Odakyu Odawara Line began operating on the line, giving it the character of both a local transport route and a tourist route to Gotemba. The line is also close to Mount Fuji, which is the name of the limited express train, and the majestic views from the train window are truly breathtaking. This time, I took scenes of 2 trains traveling through the foothills of Mount Fuji in winter, covered in a thick blanket of snow.
