2025年10月4日、両国国技館で元妙義龍関――現・湊川親方の断髪式が行われました。
土俵人生に幕を下ろす晴れの日、会場には多くの関係者やファンが駆けつけ、温かい拍手に包まれました。

大関・貴景勝（湊川親方）がハサミを入れる場面では、会場全体が感動に包まれ、
そのスリムになった姿も大きな話題に。
高校の大先輩・後輩としての絆が、静かに、そして力強く伝わってきました。

妙義龍関の半生を象徴するように、
多くの力士・親方・恩師・友人たちが次々とはさみを入れ、
“愛された力士”であったことをあらためて実感する時間となりました。

On October 4, 2025, at Ryogoku Kokugikan, former Myogiryu—now Minatogawa Oyakata—held his danpatsu-shiki (retirement haircut ceremony).
On this special day marking the end of his sumo career, many guests and fans gathered, filling the venue with warm applause.

When Ozeki Takakeisho stepped forward to cut the first lock of hair, the audience was deeply moved,
and his dramatically slimmer appearance became a major topic of conversation.
The bond between senior and junior from Saitama Sakae High School was quietly, yet powerfully, felt throughout the ceremony.

Representing Myogiryu’s remarkable life in sumo,
many wrestlers, oyakata, teachers, and friends took turns cutting his hair,
reminding everyone of the love and respect he earned as a cherished rikishi.
