He is the K-1 GRAND PRIX champion of ’94, ’95, and ’98—and the first fighter in K-1 history to win the Grand Prix twice in a row and three times overall. He also holds records for the most tournament appearances (17), the most consecutive tournament appearances (16 years), and the most appearances in the tournament finals (6).

Peter has been involved in K-1 since the very first tournament and is considered one of the “Four Heavenly Kings of K-1,” alongside Andy Hug, Ernesto Hoost, and Mike Bernardo.

He is famous for his powerful high kicks, earning him the nickname “The Dutch Lumberjack” a tribute to a woodsman capable of felling the biggest trees.
