半年ぶりの投稿となりますが、今回は長野県の奈良井宿に行ってまいりました。古き良き時代の風情が漂う宿場町、江戸時代の面影を色濃く残す情緒豊かな場所です。関西地方から江戸を結ぶ中山道の宿場街道。どうぞご覧ください。


奈良井宿の役割と特徴
長野県塩尻市に位置する奈良井宿は、中山道の中で「奈良井千軒」と謳われるほど栄えた日本一長い宿場町です。
難所「鳥居峠」の拠点： 木曽路最大の難所である鳥居峠（標高1,197m）を控えていたため、峠越えに備える旅人や、無事に越えてきた人々が休息・宿泊する拠点として不可欠な役割を果たしました。
宿場機能と物流： 慶長6年（1601年）の宿駅制定に伴い整備され、公用の伝馬役や宿泊施設である本陣、脇本陣、旅籠が立ち並びました。
地場産業の発展： 漆工芸などの地場産業も発展し、江戸時代から現在まで続く伝統的な景観は「重要伝統的建造物群保存地区」として大切に守られています。

This is my first post in six months, and this time I visited Narai-juku in Nagano Prefecture. It's a post town with a nostalgic atmosphere, a place rich in emotion that strongly retains the atmosphere of the Edo period. It's located on the Nakasendo post town route, connecting the Kansai region to Edo. Please take a look.

Narai-juku's Role and Characteristics
Narai-juku, located in Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture, is the longest post town in Japan, and was so prosperous along the Nakasendo that it was praised as "Narai Senken."

Base for the Difficult Torii Pass: Located just ahead of Torii Pass (1,197m above sea level), the most difficult pass on the Kiso Road, it played an essential role as a base for travelers preparing to cross the pass and for those who safely crossed it to rest and stay overnight.

Post Town Function and Logistics: The post town was established in 1601 (Keicho 6), and was lined with official horse-carrying services and accommodation facilities such as honjin (main inn), wakihonjin (side inn), and yago (traditional Japanese inn).
Development of local industries: Local industries such as lacquerware have also developed, and the traditional landscape that has continued from the Edo period to the present day is carefully protected as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.
